I hate marketing my school!!!
Yesterday I was driving to a school I took over a while back
I was thinking about all the work that needed to be done.
New build out
And I realize something. I hate marketing my school.
I didn’t join a martial arts school 40 years ago to sweat and bleed so I could become a friggin’ computer geek marketer…
I joined because I loved martial arts, and later I found I REALLY love teaching martial arts.
And I hate Facebook Ad manager, I hate Mailchimp, I hate Canva and I hate Clickfunnels… I learned’em, but I hated it.
So I got to thinkin’, as I have been known to do…How important is marketing your school?
A few of my Black Belts have 400+ students (real students, not fitness members…) and they didn’t gett’em because I taught’em how to market, And if you asked them about marketing they would look at you like you had three heads…
But they’re damn fine men, damn fine martial artists and damn fine instructors.
The reason they’re successful is because they are good, real good at giving students what they want.
The great marketer Seth Godin said “ the ONLY way to win is to be so good everyone talks about you”
So maybe the best marketing, the marketing that will make you happiest, maybe that marketing is to just get good…real, real good at making your students happy.
Maybe it’s best to be known in your community as the best place for kids, not as the best marketer in town…
So ya, that’s what I’m going to do…just keep gettin’ better.
