What’s wrong with these numbers, and why most owners don’t make’em.
Are you making $120,000 a year as an owner and professional instructor working in your school?
Of the 15,000 schools in the country most aren’t, they’re not even close.
And I think it’s because they don’t do the basic’s.
You can’t win a point tournament without a backfist and a punch. I don’t care how great your jump spinning hook kick is, you ain’t winnin’ without the basic’s.
Same in business.
Let’s run some numbers;
In almost any market you should be able to get to 150 students. (we’ve done in towns as small as 5000 people)
In almost any market you should be able to get to $120 a month.
150 x $120= $18,000 and month, sell some pro shop stuff, and with down-payments you should hit $20,000 a month.
$240,000 a year. And if you are teaching you better be netting 50%…
That’s $120,000 a year. Live on some, save some, invest some, bingo, you have a great career,and hell, you get to be a martial artist for a job.
So why aren’t most owners doing it?
Basic’s friends. Friendly instructors, curriculum people like, clear purpose of the school, consistency, cleanliness, clear expectations to advance, tractable systems, communication systems, basic 101 marketing skills, and here’s the big one….KNOWING YOUR NUMBERS.
If you’re not making money you want it’s probably in the basic’s.
So, add these numbers up= 150 x 120 x 50%, that’s 1+5+0+1+2+0+5+0 which equals=15… add a 0 for excuses and you have 150….
Coincidence…I think not…! Lol
Now go gett’em…!
